Dill Life Drawing: Artist Workshop
5 June, 2025
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Join Chutzpah exhibiting artist Stephania Windholz Leigh for a whimsical still life drawing session where art, memory and heritage come together around the table.
Inspired by domestic objects and traditional Polish-Jewish foods from her grandparents’ home, Stephania will create a one night only installation in front of her artwork A Big Dill.
This hands-on workshop invites participants to collectively sketch and reflect, while honouring the role of still life in noticing and preserving everyday items. Explore this classical art form through the lens of her Holocaust-survivor grandparents and the quiet beauty found in their acts of care, survival, and homemaking.
No prior experience necessary. All materials supplied.
This program includes entry to Chutzpah: Spirit. Recollection. Self.

Artist Bio:
Stephania Windholz Leigh(b. 1990 Melbourne, lives in Melbourne and Krakow) is a visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, and sound.
Stephania’s work explores themes of identity, cultural heritage and the female form, challenging societal norms and uncovering new modes of resistance and transformation. By interrogating inherited memories, trauma, and cultural narratives, Windholz Leigh creates art that resonates with personal and collective histories.
In February 2023, Windholz Leigh exhibited, ‘Aren’t You Gonna Eat Your Gefilte Fish?’ in Melbourne, a poignant exploration of assimilation and the challenges of preserving Jewish food traditions. This exhibition exemplified her commitment to examining cultural continuity and identity through a contemporary lens, utilising humour through titles and bright colours to draw viewers in, while hinting at a solemn sadness of disconnection from community and lineage.
Stephania has exhibited works at FestivALT in Kraków, Poland, Bayside Gallery in Melbourne and the Australian Catholic University Gallery.
