Indulge in some chicken soup for the soul and nosh* for thought, and join us to celebrate the opening of Chutzpah: Spirit. Recollection. Self. with a JMA Artist on Artist panel discussion.

Hear from award-winning author, broadcaster and taste-maker Alice Zaslavsky in conversation with Chutzpah exhibiting artist Stephania Windholz Leigh as they explore the different ways we ‘make’ food and how food makes us.

Drawing on their shared Jewish heritage, immigrant family backgrounds and their vibrant artistic and culinary practice, Alice and Stephania will unpack how food can be a vehicle for healing, culture and memory, that bridges generations.

They’ll kvetch*, they’ll kibbitz*, they’ll kvell* – and try to redeem the reputation of Ashkenazi cuisine along the way. 

*nosh: Yiddish, food or a snack. 
*kvetch: Yiddish, to complain. 
*kibbitz: Yiddish, to chat light-heartedly.  
*kvell: Yiddish, to experience pride in another.
