Year Levels: 5–8

Connecting Cultures Through Art invites students to explore how artists express identity and share cultural stories through their practice. This non-religious program encourages dialogue, reflection and art-making, helping students connect their own backgrounds with those of others. By fostering curiosity and appreciation of diversity, the program promotes respect, empathy and understanding in today’s multicultural society.

Please note that a maximum of 26 students can be facilitated per session.

Includes: Museum tour, art making activity based on the works of Mirka Mora, pre- and post-visit learning resources.
Duration: 2 hours.
Cost: $15 per student.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify and describe how artists communicate cultural identity through their work.
  • Reflect on and share aspects of personal cultural background and experiences.
  • Create an artwork that expresses individual or collective identity.
  • Respectfully engage with diverse cultural perspectives through dialogue and art-making.
  • Experiment with materials, techniques, and processes to develop personal visual artworks
