We collect only the personal data necessary for our operations – events, exhibitions, donations, subscriptions and retail services. Your information may be gathered directly or via trusted third parties, and is only used to improve your experience with JMA. We never share your details with outside marketers.

Child Safety

At the Jewish Museum of Australia, we are deeply committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people who visit, learn and engage with our museum. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, respected and heard. Child safety is a core part of who we are and is central to everything we do.

We have zero tolerance for child abuse. This includes physical, emotional, and sexual harm, as well as neglect. We are dedicated to creating an environment where children are protected and feel confident to speak up about any concerns.

Our child safety commitments apply to all areas of the Museum’s work – whether children are visiting with their school, participating in holiday programs, or attending with their families. All staff, volunteers, Board members and contractors are expected to uphold our child safety values and follow our Code of Conduct at all times.

We are especially committed to supporting children from diverse backgrounds. This includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, children with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ young people. We are actively working to create a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all.

We promote the active involvement of children and young people in decisions that affect them, and we value the voices of families and carers. We welcome feedback and encourage families to share their thoughts or concerns with us at any time.

To ensure a high standard of safety:

  • All staff and volunteers who work with children are screened, trained, and supervised.
  • We provide clear policies and reporting procedures, available online and in the Museum.
  • We promote a culture of openness and respect where concerns can be raised without fear.
  • We maintain strong risk management practices in both physical and online environments.
  • We regularly review and improve our practices in consultation with children, families, and staff.
