Buchenwald Ball – 80 Years Dancing in Freedom
Closes: 19 October 2025
Every year, since their liberation from Buchenwald concentration camp, a group of men and their ever-growing families have gathered for a celebration of survival. Together they recite the Kaddish for lost family members, raise a glass of whiskey to wish one another L’Chaim and dance, rejoicing in their freedom.
Buchenwald Ball marks 80 years of these Balls in Melbourne. Featuring Andrew Harris’ recent photographs alongside archival imagery, poetry and other items related to the Balls and Buchenwald Boys, the exhibition honours their resilience and hope, community and contribution.
