Ethical capability – World Religions in a snapshot
Designed to support the ethical capability unit within the new Victorian Curriculum, this new program helps teachers introduce students to different religions and world views. A range of relevant precepts are also introduced, which can include those from the five most common religions, along with a secular world view representation of humanism and rationalism.
Beyond the requirements of curriculum, acceptance of multiculturalism is a vitally important issue in Australia. At a time when the press alarms us about the appropriateness of multiculturalism, a staff program at the Jewish Museum is a way of showing leadership by modelling the behaviours we expect to instil in our students. It assists students to recognise and appreciate both areas of commonality and difference between diverse faith groups and secular perspectives.
