Marc Chagall lived and worked as a Jewish artist, drawing on his childhood, life experiences, faith and culture as inspiration for his artworks. Explore Jewish culture through our immersive flagship exhibition CHAGALL and our permanent gallery spaces. Engage with the history of the Jewish people, their journeys, traditions and celebrations, and see these translated into the artworks of Chagall.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Analyse and interpret themes, concepts and ideas in the works of Marc Chagall.
  • Identify and interpret sources of inspiration in Chagall’s work and how Jewish people express their religious and cultural identities.
  • Identify and connect with Jewish perspectives, traditions, and Jewish life specific features of  Chagall works to a wider historical, cultural and social context.
  • Analyse the dynamic nature and origins of their own and other cultural practices.
