Purim Family Day: Hamantaschen Baking

24 March 2024
Sunday 10am and 11.30am, free activities run throughout the day
Jewish Museum of Australia

Jam-packed like a Hamantaschen, it’s time for Purim at JMA! Come dressed in your Purim–best and celebrate the festival with family-friendly art activities, baking and a visit to our new Children’s Space!

Join us in rolling out dough and filling with your favourite Hamantaschen  flavour! And, of course, baking and tasting your delicious creations!

Please note that Hamantaschen baking will use kashered utensils/oven and kosher ingredients.

Sessions one: 10–10.30am

Session two: 11.30am–12pm

Drop-in to the Children’s Space at any time during the day to create your own Purim-inspired mask.

The Children’s Space will display an exhibit called Head to Toes, exploring a range of garments and headwear from the JMA’s Collection. Visit Harry Nankin’s Instructions to Mend the World and ponder the mystical Kabbalist’s call for tikkun olam (to mend the world). Wander upstairs to view our newly refurbished permanent exhibitions and see Nina Sanadze’s Hana & Child displayed throughout our many spaces.
