Mirka's French Paper Food Workshop with Beci Orpin

In celebration of MIRKA, join beloved Melbourne artist Beci Orpin for a paper food workshop at MPavilion Parkade. Using paper, glue and paint, you can learn how to make classic French ingredients such as leeks, camembert, dijon mustard and baguettes in 3D form and combine two of Mirka Mora’s passions: creating and French food!

The late, cherished Mirka Mora survived the Holocaust and emigrated from France in the 1950s, energising the Australian art world and invigorating Melbourne’s food culture. Mirka and her family settled at the “Paris end” of Collins Street and went on to establish the Mirka Café, Balzac Restaurant and Tolarno French Bistro, redefining Melbourne’s appreciation and understanding of classic French cuisine.

Beci Orpin is a Melbourne based artist, designer, author and all round incredible crafter who will guide participants through the process of creating beautiful paper versions of classic French ingredients.

This session is best suited for ages 10+ and adults and families are most welcome to join in! A good opportunity to be a big kid again.
