Lygon Street Walk
Return to the centre of early Jewish life in Melbourne and take in the Chevra Kadisha, Herzl House, Monash House, Smorgon’s Butcher Shop, Stone’s Synagogue, the site of the Carlton United Hebrew Congregation and more.
This walk is part of the Primo Levi: Writer, Witness, Scientist centenary program, and will conclude with a tour of Museo Italiano.
Meet at the San Marco in Lamis Social Club at 149 Canning Street (near the corner of Kay Street).
Our Lygon Street Walk is presented in partnership with Multicultural Museums Victoria. MMV comprises five institutions – the Chinese Museum, Co.As.It Italian Historical Society & Museo Italiano, Hellenic Museum, Islamic Museum of Australia, and Jewish Museum of Australia – that have come together to share their history, culture and art as one.
