The Jewish Museum of Australia is thrilled to be a part of Open House Melbourne 2022 on Sunday 31 July, 10am – 5pm.
Join a guided tour of the permanent galleries, a curator talk about the collection or just wander in to learn about Jewish life and culture in Australia through a self-guided visit.
Expand your knowledge and experience by joining the Museum’s friends across the road at the St Kilda Synagogue for tours at specific times across the day.

Behind the Scenes with the Curator
Go behind the scenes for a special peek at some of the treasures of our Collection pertaining to the story of Helmut Newton as a photographer within Melbourne’s Schmatte business but also as an enemy alien and internee, held at Tatura in regional Victoria.
Hear our Curator Cathy Pryor talk about the extent and significance of our holdings and discover more about what we collect and how we look after the 25K+ items in our care.

Exploring the Museum tours
Go on a journey of discovery with one of the Museum’s knowledgeable volunteer guides to learn more about Jewish life and culture through an Australian prism. The tour will take you through our five permanent galleries Timeline of Jewish History, Calling Australia Home, Evolving Identities, The Jewish Year and Belief and Ritual.
