Calling Australia Home – Stories of Migration and Community is a free open day presented by us and The Joint. Come for a day of exploration and discovery into the origins of our modern Australian Jewish community and the stories of migration that made us.
Behind The Scenes: Discover special items from our collection relating to The Joint’s rescue and resettlement of thousands of Jewish refugees in Australia after the Holocaust. Meet our exhibition and collections team and learn how we care for and use objects to bring stories to life.

Personal Recording Studio: Record your immigration story with an on-site historian.

Play Historian: Help us to identify anonymous faces of immigrants in photos from the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Panel Discussion ‘Restoring Tomorrow’: At 3pm dive deep into the past and present of Jewish communities featuring an all-star panel including Professor Andrew Markus, Dr. Margaret Taft, Emmanuel Gruzman, Dr. Erica Frydenberg and a returning young adult volunteer as part of The Joint’s Entwine Volunteer Abroad programme.

This event is also part of Mitzvah Day.
