Australia & Israel: Two States, One Diaspora (Zoom)
To: 18 May 2020
Described as the ‘midwife’ at the birth of the State of Israel, Australia has historically enjoyed close ties with the Jewish state—one that belies the great distance between the two nations. Australia’s Jewish community—regarded as one of the most Zionist and Israel-centric diasporas globally—has been an integral part in this nexus.
This course follows political and social changes in Israel and Australia across 70 years; exploring the tensions, confrontations and connections between these nations and the Jewish people who bind them together.
