The Havdalah Set is made of a stoneware, white-bodied clay, highly decorated with rich patterns in underglaze colours. A shiny, clear-gloss glaze is fired over the colours. A third firing of gold lustre is applied adding highlights. Born in Melbourne in 1960, Mary-Lou Pittard has been exhibiting since 1984 with ten solo and many group shows around Australia, including In the Round, which toured Victorian regional galleries. Her work features in many collections, including Artbank; Victorian State Craft Collection; Ballarat, Benalla, Shepparton and Bendigo regional galleries; and the Jewish Museum of Australia.
