Volunteer profile – Haimy Katz

March 5, 2014

Why do you choose to volunteer here at the Museum?
I felt I could contribute my time and knowledge of Judaism to the wider community – to demystify Judaism. Ultimately, a sense of achievement.

What do you enjoy most about the Museum?
The encouragement for me to learn more and not to take my life as a Jew for granted. A plus for personal development. Also, interaction with other volunteers and staff.

What is your favourite item or display in the Museum and why?
Jaques Wengrow’s Holocaust painting. It’s a reminder that as Jews and survivors over countless generations, we have much to look forward to, and be grateful for, despite the tragedies historically inflicted on us.
