Music & Movement: Baby/Toddler Steps 10.30-11am & 3-3.30pm
This is a taste of our regular Baby and Toddler Steps program held every Friday morning at the Jewish Museum. Designed specifically for the Museum’s youngest audience members (babies aged 0 – 18 months and toddlers from 18-24 moths) and their carers, this exciting program celebrates Shabbat and Jewish Festivals through music and activities. Sessions are facilitated by Nicole Ben-Simon – a mother of 3, who has an infectious passion for Judaism, music and children. Click here to book

Join us in rolling out dough and filling with your favourite Hamantaschen flavour! And, of course, baking and tasting your delicious creations! Click here to book

Shaker Making: 12.30-1.30pm
Join us in making your very own Raashan for Purim and then shake it loudly at our Megillah reading at 2pm in the Jewish Year Gallery. (No booking required)

Participate & Perform: Megillah/Purim Display/Purim Parade 11.30-12pm & 2-2.30pm
Families will have the opportunity to participate in the reading of the Megillah (both in English & in Hebrew) in our beautiful Jewish Year Gallery, in the setting of our Purim Display. A festive and fun Purim parade to follow. (No booking required)

Join us to hear Monika Krawczyk, CEO of the Foundation for Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland (FODZ), chat with Paul Forgasz, about what is happening today to preserve Poland’s Jewish heritage – its synagogues, streets and cemeteries.

Baby Steps and Toddler Steps @ JewMu

Come and experience our innovative and playful program for babies and toddlers, celebrating Shabbat and the upcoming Jewish festivals in the stimulating surrounds of the Jewish Museum! Meet our facilitator Nicole, a mother of three girls who has a passion for Judaism, music and children. Nicole has created a beautiful opportunity for babies and toddlers to enjoy music and dance with a range of songs and activities related to Shabbat and the Jewish holidays.

Jewish Poland & Lithuania: the world of our ancestors

Tour dates: 14 June – 3 July 2017

Following three highly successful tours of Jewish Poland and Lithuania, the Jewish Museum of Australia is pleased to present this tour again in 2017. The tour will be led by Paul Forgasz, who lectures in Jewish history at Monash University’s Centre for Jewish Civilisation. Paul is well known as a presenter to many Limmud Oz audiences, as well as a regular contributor to the Jewish Museum’s adult education program. He has led previous tours focusing on the Jews of medieval Spain and the Jews of Germany.

Step back in time, and explore the amazing story of Italy’s Jews with the Jewish Museum of Australia. Join Paul Forgasz for an enlightening and educational visit to various towns, cities, and sites of both Jewish and general historical interest. Kids & family exhibition trail

This self-guided kids & family exhibition trail has been designed to guide our youngest visitors around aspects of the Museum’s Collection through the four permanent exhibitions: Calling Australia Home, Timeline of Jewish History, The Jewish Year and Belief and Ritual.

Children are then invited to explore the objects and their stories in the galleries and hopefully realise the museum is a place to see and feel new things, a place to ask questions, to make connections, to be creative and most importantly – to have fun!

Tours through the Calling Australia Home permanent exhibition are available at the following times:

Historic and architecturally unique St Kilda Synagogue are available at the following times:

Time: 12:30pm (extra session at 3pm on Sunday) – please note that on Sunday 31 July the tour times will be 12pm and 3pm. Tours run for approximately 40 minutes & tour times are subject to change.
