Permanent Gallery Programs

More than four thousand years of history, tradition and culture are
brought to life at the Jewish Museum of Australia.

By displaying the creativity of Jewish life, custom, and religion,
the Jewish Museum provides a unique opportunity to learn
about Judaism and Jews and especially the Australian Jewish experience.

The Jewish community is one among many cultures that live inside our shores.
An integral part of Australian society, they have contributed to Australian life
since European settlement.

Reflecting the creative and interactive environment of the Jewish Museum
of Australia, our education programs aim to stimulate students and
encourage them to seek, discover and question.

Programs include:

Ritual Reporter: Using investigation cards to explore current religious
practices, students present their findings to their peers.

I'm Puzzled: The Jewish year is a puzzle to those not in the know.
Armed  with a piece of the puzzle, students use the Museum as a resource
to look  for the missing pieces about the festivals and their celebration.
    Especially suitable for primary students.

On the Trail: With a Museum map in hand, students use orienteering skills
to follow the path of Jewish history.

Putting the Pieces Together Part 1: Simpler than a Rubric cube but just as
compelling. Australian Jewish history for primary students. Discover the
story of Jewish life in Australia over 200 years since the beginning of
    European settlement.

Putting the pieces together Part 2: Australian Jewish history for secondary students.
Through iconic objects and interactive videos uncover the stories behind the people
who arrived with The First Fleet.

Let the Search Begin: Using investigative skills, student super-sleuths search
the Museum in a self-directed game that teaches them about Jewish custom
    and traditions. (Primary students)

A People on the Move: By following the movement of the Jewish people over the
past thousand years, students consider why people uproot their families and leave
    their countries of birth.

Storytelling: celebrations and  life-cycles through stories and role play.

Choose from one of these exciting programs, or alternatively, the Museum is
happy to collaborate with you to create a program to suit your needs.

If you wish to bring your own program, the Museum would be happy to assist you.
