Unpacking Parashat ha-Shavua: intersections with art, artefacts and gender
To: 25 June 2018
The weekly Torah portion Parashat ha-Shavua is a section of the Torah used in Jewish liturgy during a single week. There are 54 weekly parashiyot (plural) in Judaism , and the full cycle is read over the course of one Jewish year.
Join Rebecca Forgasz as she examines the Torah portions that occur during the four weeks of this course.
Using traditional and modern texts, objects from the Museum collection, art from exhibitions she has curated, and, as is her trademark, a focus on feminism and gender, Rebecca Forgasz, Director & CEO of the Jewish Museum, will infuse the weekly Torah portions with multiple meanings.
The Bible will never look the same.
